Do I need to take an exam to earn 60 PDUs?
NO. PMI® does not require any exam to earn PDUs training.
However, to earn 60 PDUs, PMI® has some mandatory requirements for the minimum number of Education PDUs and the minimum number of PDUs in three categories of the PMI Talent Triangle®.
Professional Development Units (PDUs) are a way for project management professionals to demonstrate their continued learning and professional development. To earn and maintain the PMP® credential, PMI® requires that you earn 60 PDU within a three-year cycle.
To earn Education PDUs, you would need to engage in professional development activities recognized by PMI® as eligible for PDU credit; for example, 60 PDU Bundle provided by IMT-PM. PMI® requires a PMP® holder to earn at least 35 Education PDUs out of 60 PDUs to renew the certificate every 3-year cycle. And a PMP® holder can earn up to 60 Educational PDUs to renew the certificate. There is NO LIMITATION on Education PDUs.
Regarding the minimum number of PDUs in the three categories of the PMI Talent Triangle®, PMI® expects you to earn at least 8 PDUs in Way of Working, at least 8 PDUs in Power Skills and at least 8 PDUs in Business Acumen.
