What is the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® exam?
The CAPM® exam is a test of your knowledge and skills on project management fundamentals and core concepts. It’s divided into four sections:
- Project management fundamentals and core concepts
- Predictive, plan-based methodologies
- Agile frameworks/methodologies
- Business analysis frameworks
The exam takes 3 hours and has 150 questions. It’s available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, French, Portuguese (Brazilian), German, and Japanese.

CAPM® training and certification prepares you for the PMP® exam.
CAPM® certification isn’t just an essential step in building your project management career. It also replaces the 35-hour project management education requirement to qualify for PMP® certification.
How can I prepare for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification exam?

Before you take the CAPM® exam, you must have completed 23 hours of education. The CAPM® exam prep course counts toward these 23 hours.
During the exam prep course, you’ll build a foundation in project management. You’ll learn about project quality, scope, time, cost, resources, communications, procurement, integration management, agile, and business analysis.
When can I take the CAPM® exam?
To be eligible for the exam, you must have:
- a secondary degree, such as a high school diploma, GED (general educational development), or global equivalent
- 23 hours of education (our CAPM® training course fulfills this requirement)
