Latest Updates on the PMI-ACP Exam in 2025: What You Need to Know?

If you’re planning to take the PMI-ACP Exam in 2025, there are some important updates and trends to keep in mind. With the release of the new Exam Content Outline (ECO) in 2024, PMI® is emphasizing modern agile practices, hybrid delivery approaches, and servant leadership more than ever.

Here’s what’s new and how you can confidently prepare for the exam this year.

1. New Exam Content Outline (2024 Release)

PMI® officially released the updated PMI-ACP® Exam Content Outline in 2024 (View PDF), and it is the governing framework for the exam in 2025.

Key enhancements include:

  • Greater emphasis on servant leadership, value-driven delivery, and adaptive planning

  • Clearer articulation of domains and tasks

  • Stronger focus on hybrid and real-world agile applications

  • Expanded emphasis on psychological safety and team empowerment

The 4 domains remain:

  1. Mindset

  2. Leadership

  3. Product

  4. Delivery

2. Exam Structure & Format

The structure of the PMI-ACP exam remains consistent:

  • 120 multiple-choice questions

  • 3 hours to complete

  • Delivered online via Pearson VUE, or at a test center

Of the 120 questions, 20 are unscored (pretest questions). Your score is based on the remaining 100.

3. Updated Prep Materials and Courses

In 2025, PMI®-authorized training providers have rolled out new resources that reflect the latest ECO. Look for:

  • Updated PMI-ACP® courses with live instruction

  • Mock exams and question banks provided by PMI® that reflect real-world Agile scenarios

  • Simulations and discussion-based learning

Choose an Authorized Training Partner (ATP) to ensure your study materials are up-to-date.

4. Application & Eligibility

PMI® has clarified and updated the eligibility requirements for the PMI-ACP exam in 2025. Here’s what you need:

  • A secondary degree, such as a high school diploma, GED, or global equivalent

  • 24 months (2 years) of Agile project experience within the last 5 years
(Holding a current PMP® certification satisfies this requirement but is not required.)
