CAPM® stands for Certified Associate in Project Management. It is a globally recognized certification that shows that you have the foundational knowledge and skills needed to manage projects. 

You can get your CAPM® by studying project management fundamentals and taking the CAPM® exam. The CAPM®  certification is recognized globally and is a stepping-stone to the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification. 

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® is a valuable qualification for many different people in many different roles! Learning project management fundamentals, including predictive plan-based methodologies and agile frameworks, can prepare you for a job in project management or help you take on new roles in your current career.

The CAPM® exam is a test of your knowledge and skills on project management fundamentals and core concepts. It’s divided into four sections:

  • Project management fundamentals and core concepts
  • Predictive, plan-based methodologies
  • Agile frameworks/methodologies
  • Business analysis frameworks

The exam takes 3 hours and has 150 questions. It’s available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Italian, French, Portuguese (Brazilian), German, and Japanese. 

CAPM® training and certification prepares you for the PMP® exam.

CAPM® certification isn’t just an essential step in building your project management career. It also replaces the 35-hour project management education requirement to qualify for  PMP® certification.

IMT-PM offers the PMI® Authorized CAPM® Exam Prep course.

Before you take the CAPM® exam, you must have completed 23 hours of education. The CAPM® exam prep course counts toward these 23 hours.

During the exam prep course, you’ll build a foundation in project management. You’ll learn about project quality, scope, time, cost, resources, communications, procurement, integration management, agile, and business analysis.

To be eligible for the exam, you must have:

  • a secondary degree, such as a high school diploma, GED (general educational development), or global equivalent
  • 23 hours of education (our CAPM® training course fulfills this requirement)

Once you’ve fulfilled these requirements, you’ll complete your exam application and schedule your exam appointment.

PMI® Authorized Training Partners provide high-quality, instructor-led PMI® Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification and exam training.

PMI® Authorized Training Partners must fulfill rigorous requirements to become training partners. Few other organizations have requirements this strict. Partners:

  • hold either a CAPM® or the PMI® Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification
  • Are up-to-date on both the latest learning methods and the most in-demand skills in project management
  • have completed the PMI® Train the Trainer – CAPM® Exam Prep course
  • have been in business for at least three years
